Well, for Mason's birthday he received a finger painting kit, and I couldn't wait for him to try it out, especially because it will be getting colder soon, and I would much rather the mess be outside than in. So we had to try it out! Not much to write about what happened, but please enjoy the pictures to follow!

First Time in the Wagon
Today we took Mason for his first ride in the wagon he got for his birthday! We walked him down to the water, and on to the dock where we just hung out and relaxed. He loved it! It was such a nice day.

Mason turns ONE!!!
I can't even believe that I am now the mother to a handsome, smart, amazing, and hilarious ONE YEAR OLD baby boy! And yes, he is still my baby, and always will be! Not a day goes by that I don't love him more, and I can never say that enough. This child is more than my life...he is my joy, my pride, my reason for waking up each morning (multiple times haha), and my reason for breathing. He smile melts my heart. I've never been so overwhelmed with emotion by anything until he was born. And today Mason has done this for me consistently for a year, a whole year! I hope and pray every day that he will one day look back on all of the pictures and memories and know that there was NEVER an instant where he wasn't loved. I pray that he knows how much his father and myself love him, and hope that he loves us just as much! I hope for a brilliant future for him. He is not like other babies, plain and simple... and I know that statement makes me sound like a typical doting mother, but its true to me, and that is what matters. Mason seems to be an old soul, like he's lived a life before. He is laid back in nature, and happy 98% of the time. He takes joy in simple things as do I. He is a character. Simple things he does crack me up. From the way he cracks up and dancing around whenever the backpack or map come on the screen when Dora the Explorer is on, to the way he drinks his juice, holding on to his pack and play with one hand while leaning back casually, and throwing back his juice with the other hand. I like to think that he is already developing an artsy side from me. His favorite thing as of late, is a paintbrush. He will not let it go, he holds the right end, and he uses it as you or I would, like he knows what he is doing. I'm amazed by him daily.
I chose to have his party at Southaven Park for a few reasons, it's casual, and more people could come than if I had it at the house. It was a pretty laid back party, and most of my dear friends were able to come which meant the world to me.
The day started off wonderfully, as Mike and my dad put together the wagon that my parents got for Mason! Teamwork at it's finest, right?
After that my amazing sister-in-law, showed up to the house with the cake and favors that SHE MADE for Mason's special day... did I mention how amazing she is, because seriously, she is a life saver, and INCREDIBLE! If you are reading this.. I LOVE YOU!
We got to the park to set up, which once again, my amazing sister in law came to the rescue and ran out to get some table covers which I had totally forgotten about! Slowly people started to show up, and when I say everyone that came has been a life long friend, I mean that. I know I could count on these people for anything! First Ali, Roni, and Roni's adorable daughter Hailey arrived. I'm pretty certain that Hailey is now Mason's first girlfriend! They were so cute together! She kept trying to kiss him and of course my lovely son pushes her away! And she was feeding him cheerios and was so excited that everyone thought it was cute that she ended up shoving a whole bunch in his mouth, haha! Too too cute!
At first, Mason wasn't thrilled with this whole cake thing, but after a while he decided it was delicious, mostly after Michael fed him MASSIVE amounts of frosting and no actual cake, but hey, it's his first birthday after all! After he started to really enjoy it, I ended up covered in icing as he flailed his covered hands around in sheer joy, or hyped up on sugar... or perhaps a combination of the two?? Yes.. a combination!

The Notebook in Real Life?
Today, I talked hubby into going on a trip with me to see where I was wanting to have Mason's birthday party. After we looked around a bit, we found the lake and boat rentals, and mike suggested we take a row boat out. Such a sweet man my husband is! I was worried we weren't going to find a life jacket to fit Mason, but sure enough we did, and for how much he hates things on his head, or constricting him in any way.. he was VERY good.
As we rowed along, there were swans EVERYWHERE, and I instantly thought of the scene from the notebook where Noah takes Allie to see all the swans. Now, there weren't QUITE as many as in the movie and I couldn't get a picture to do it justice while holding onto a wiggly baby, but I did get a few pics!
